Biographical summary
Dr. Brandon J. Yuan is a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, specializing in the surgical management of complex fractures, nonunions and joint reconstruction. His clinical expertise encompasses upper and lower extremity trauma, pelvic and acetabular injuries, and hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Yuan is also actively involved in research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications focusing on topics such as fracture fixation techniques, periprosthetic fractures, and joint infection management.
Dr. Yuan earned his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in 2009 and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the same institution in 2014. He then pursued a fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Harborview Medical Center, affiliated with the University of Washington. In recognition of his contributions to education, Dr. Yuan has received multiple "Teacher of the Year" awards from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and serves on various committees for those organizations. He also serves on several committees within the Mayo Clinic to advance orthopedic practice and education and currently serves as the Chair of the Division of Orthopedic Trauma at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
